Other People’s Projects: Mitsubishi 360 Van

This has been around the Internet for some time, but it’s such a superb project it needs to continue doing the rounds. Basically, a guy in Japan called David was cruising around when he saw a load of old cars in the weeds (actual weeds, not “scene” ones). Amongst them was a first-generation Mitsubishi 360 Van in a pretty bad state.

What did he do next? You’ll have to click to find out (clue: he didn’t weigh it in).

Due to being afflicted with dangerous levels of old car enthusiasm, he decided it would be a good idea to obtain it and sort it out. Turned out it had been there six years. Oh yeah, and a window was broken. Never mind though, just tow it out.

After that follows an enormous restoration which includes two resprays (because he wasn’t happy with the first one), a load of fiddling about trying to get/make long-defunct parts for an obscure model, lots and lots of sanding. To cut a long story short, it makes me look bloody lazy.

For 28 pages of superb restoration action, I highly recommend you visit his excellent website: https://sites.google.com/site/nakazoto/current-cars/1967-lt23-mitsubishi-minica-360

And if you don’t, well, fair enough I guess, I’m not going to force you or anything, I just wanted to show you, Christ. You’re very touchy.
